The Didonna Lab offers a nurturing and interactive research environment to receive training in neuroscience, molecular and cell biology, functional genomics, and immunology. The broad ECU community and a network of national and international collaborators will provide additional opportunities to develop advanced skills in modern biomedical research. Highly motivated and exceptional individuals from different backgrounds are welcome to get in touch and explore possible common interests. Details on available positions are provided below.

RESEARCH SPECIALISTS

There are currently no open positions.

PHD STUDENTS

Prospective students interested in pursuing a PhD in the Didonna Lab must apply to the ECU's Anatomy and Cell Biology Doctoral Program or the Interdisciplinary Doctoral Program in Biology, Biomedicine and Chemistry. The students are also encouraged to contact directly Dr. Didonna to learn about rotations in the lab.

MASTER'S STUDENTS

Master's students who want to get exposed to neuroimmunology research are required to commit at least 10 hour/week in the lab. They will be assigned their own project or they will take part in one of the bigger projects running in the lab. Interested students are encouraged to contact directly Dr. Didonna including in the email unofficial transcripts and a 1-page motivational statement.

POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWS

Unless specific funded openings are advertised, postdocs willing to join the Didonna Lab are required to secure their own funds by applying to dedicated fellowships. I will provide all the necessary support to develop the application proposal. Writing a fellowship together will be a good training to learn the keys for future successful grant applications. Researchers interested in the process are encouraged to contact directly Dr. Didonna including in the email their CV, a cover letter describing past research experience and future plans, and contact information for 3 academic references. Proposed research ideas do not need to be strictly related to the current projects as long as they fall within the broad lab interest in neuroinflammation, neurodegeneration and CNS autoimmunity. Bringing new ideas based on your own scientific background is always welcome. Listed below are a few national and international funding opportunities related to multiple sclerosis research. Please note that each sponsor has specific eligibility requirements.
